Information for Instructors

All Continuing Education instructors enjoy the protection and rights of the Collective Agreement. Only members, however, can attend meetings and participate in the Union’s decision-making processes. By filling out a Union card, you become a full-fledged member. For more information, please contact your Union Councillor the CUCEPTFU office at cuceptfu@concordia.ca, CUCEPTFU’s secretary, or any member of the Executive Committee.

The Collective Agreement ensures rights, privileges and protection for instructors...

The CUCEPTFU Collective Agreement is available to all instructors. It was written to be as user-friendly as possible, but if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact the Union Council representative from your department or a member of the Executive Committee for information and explanations. You may find Article 11 on hiring and probation, Article 13 on the seniority list, and Article 14 on course assignment of interest. Article 21 explains benefits like sick leave and health insurance while Article 25 covers salaries.

You are an instructor on probation...

As an instructor on probation, you are entitled to all the rights and protections of the Collective Agreement, except those which apply only to instructors on the seniority list, principally portions of Article 13 (Seniority) and Article 14 (Course Assignment). The conditions of your hiring and probation are covered in Article 11. You are entitled to benefits such as parental leave, sick pay and salary insurance. You are protected by articles governing teacher evaluation and disciplinary measures. As well, newly hired instructors receive the same hourly remuneration as all other faculty members.
If you have questions about your probation, contact a member of the Executive Committee.

You would like to talk to a Union representative...

Your Union representatives are elected by the membership and are there to help you with any questions, concerns and problems. Feel free to contact your departmental Union Councillor, or a member of the Executive Committee.

You would like to attend Union meetings...

General Assemblies are held twice a year, one in the Fall and another in late Winter or early Spring. All Union members are invited to attend and participate. (See above for how to join the Union). Notices are sent out well in advance of the meetings via email.

You like to meet colleagues and have a good time...

Don’t miss CUCEPTFU’s annual party!
